Korea Society Downloads & Podcast

I just noticed an interview with director Bong Joon-Ho on the Korea Society's website. Actually, you can subscribe free to their podcast on iTunes. Other recent downloads I found interesting was a talk by Christopher Hill on the current state of North Korea talks. I saw Christopher Hill at the Hyatt's Paris Bar a few months ago and he was very smooth. No entourage or anything. Apparently, he was a very good lacrosse player when he was younger. I have yet to find a lacrosse player who wasn't "cool." I'm the auditor for the Korea Lacrosse Association though I've never played the sport, hence, I'm not that cool. If those links above do not work you can just go to the Korea Society's web site and they're not difficult to find.

When I think of lacrosse, I think of preppy East Coast boys who were shuttled around by their minivan moms. But then, one badass mutha, Jim Brown, was a hell of a lacrosse player. And what's this Paris Bar in Hyatt? I don't recall that one. And who posted this? Please ID yourself.

Even before "The Host," I thought Bong was the finest Korean filmmaker. In my opinion, his "Memories of Murder" is the best Korean movie ever made, followed by "Oasis" and "The Turning Gate." Glad to see him getting his little movie fest here in the U.S.

Paris Bar is a small bar next to the Paris Grill in the Hyatt Hotel. It's a good place to smoke cigars and just unwind.

As for lacrosse, it is considered an "east" coast sport though gaining popularity all over the country. I think over the past 20 years since we've gone to high school it is less of a private school country club sport but probably that stigma still exists. In Canada, it is more of a blue collar sport. There is a grass roots campaign to get the sport more exposure in Korea. There is a national team and their fighting spirit is admired by all other countries that participating in the last world championship including the Iroquois Nation.
